The Purge: Delisting & Categorizing Posts | GlassPass Update March 2025

The Purge: Delisting & Categorizing Posts

Welcome to a new chapter for GlassPass! We’re excited to announce a massive update that’s going to change the way you use the app for the better. We’re cleaning up the marketplace, making it more organized, streamlined, and easier to navigate. In response to your feedback, we’ve introduced new features that will show you exactly what you want to see, and none of what you don’t. From hiding outdated listings to redesigning the tag system, here’s everything you need to know about our latest update.

Delisting Outdated Posts: Reducing Inactive Listings

We know how frustrating it is to find an item you want to buy, only to realize it’s years old and the seller won’t reply. We’re happy to say this update puts an end to that! We’ve heard your requests to clear out outdated listings, and we agree. Rather than deleting them and erasing an archive, we’ve built an automated delisting system that hides old posts while letting sellers easily relist ones that are still for sale.

How It Works:

Our system regularly checks for listings that were posted more than 6 months ago but haven’t sold. When a listing hits this threshold, it’s delisted. Delisted posts are simply marked as Not for Sale, and the seller has two options.

  1. Do nothing: If the item is no longer for sale, you don’t have to do anything. The item is now NFS.

  2. Relist & Bump for Free: Update the listing with a new price and information if needed, and tap Relist. The listing is bumped to the top of the feed, and the date is updated to the current day so it’s no longer outdated.

What Happens Next:

Delisted posts appear in a new tile on the Seller Dashboard called “Delisted Posts.” These posts remain on your profile as NFS for archival purposes, but won’t clutter the regular “For Sale” feeds. This improves the browsing experience for buyers, while increasing the chances of sales for sellers, by ensuring posts are always up-to-date and relevant.

Auction Reactivation: Bringing Unsold Auctions Back to Life

We heard you on auctions too. Previously, if an auction ended without a winner, the listing would become stale—even if a “Buy It Now” (BIN) price was set. Now, sellers can restart an ended auction or convert it to a regular For Sale post!

New Options for Unsold Auctions:

Sellers can now choose to either:

  • Relist as a Regular Listing: Convert an unsold auction into a For Sale post.

  • Restart the Auction: Set a new start date, and update any info or pricing.

Now you don’t have to recreate a listing from scratch if an auction falls through!

New Filter & Tag System: Categories for Better Organization

We’re introducing a brand new tiered tag system that vastly improves the accuracy and details of an item’s category. Our old system was very basic and couldn’t handle the level of complexity that glass needs when categorizing.

Tiered Categories and Filters:

The new system organizes tags into a structured dropdown menu. This tiered format of tags makes it possible to have very specific tags while still allowing buyers to search for a variety of the same item in a category. It’s a powerful but subtle change that:

  • Improves Navigation: Quickly find what you’re looking for with different levels of specificity

  • Increases Accuracy: Tiered structure allows for the creation of more detailed tags within a certain category or subcategory.

Do I Need to Update Tags on My Listings?

We’ve automatically mapped nearly 95% of old tags to the new system. The only posts that couldn’t be transferred had at least two tags that were in conflicting categories or had a deleted tag. For the 5% of posts that had a tag issue, we’ve notified the sellers to update their posts. On March 31st, 2025, any posts that haven’t been updated will become Not for Sale, aka delisted, until they’re updated. Our goal is to make this transition as smooth as possible, so 95% of you don’t have to do anything!

Models & Color Type Tags: Finer Details for a Richer Experience

These new tags are a small but mighty addition, allowing collectors to search for very specific variations of pieces and colors:

Models Tag:

This new layer works alongside the Category tag. For example, under the “Bong” category and “Beaker” subcategory, you can now select a specific model such as “GRB” or a distinct type of Illadelph beaker. This provides more specificity without overlapping existing tags like Perc.

Color Type Tag:

Not all visual features are just colors. “Sandblasted” or “electroformed” are examples of finishes that aren’t necessarily a Color. These tags allow for more accurate tags without diminishing existing Color tags.

Base & Neck Shape Tags:

Even similar models can have variations, so we’re adding tags for base shapes (e.g., Hollowfoot vs. Straightfoot) and neck shapes (e.g., bent vs. straight). This ensures that every detail is covered with tags, making it easier for collectors and buyers to find exactly what they want.

SEO & Future Growth

The new tiered category system isn’t just about improving user experience—it’s also a major boost for your listings showing up on Google searches. Search engines couldn’t easily see and categorize the vast number of listings on GlassPass, but now they can. With our new system, we can also create more educational content around each tag, sharing knowledge to bring more users into our community.
